regular PC You can measure and record temperatures, solar radiation, flow, relative humidity of the air, electric energy and much more with a regular PC and these unexpensive sensor devices. We assemble these sensors using Maxim's 1-wire integrated circuits. Click here to see online example of measurements A Serial or USB adaptor is used, along with one or more of these sensors. We highly recommend the use of the software LOGTEMP for Windows, a freeware program made by MrSoft, a company from Finland. It displays graphics and values on screen, saves data as text file or MySQL database, transmits via ftp so you can publish the information on a web site, you can set alarms and configure it to send email messages, and so on. Temperature monitoring is useful for Data centers, Solar water heating systems, Greenhouses, etc. Specifications for the temperature sensors can be found here. Solar radiation measurement is used for solar water heating systems, for agriculture and other applications. The pulse counter can be used for counting any event originated by a switch closure or a 0 to 5 volts voltage transition. As an example, water flow can be measured by means of having a flow meter with pulse output connected to this counter. Also, electric energy can be measured and recorded in this way. |
